Problems with your Groqit?
Limitations
The
jewel case problem
Reading a barcode through a jewel case is difficult.
Early in the development of the first Groqit, we were faced with the decision:
Build an affordable product that works with everything except jewelcases
or triple our target price. The Groqit is optimized for reading barcodes
on contact.
This is a real problem for people who only collect
CD's, because they will have to remove the sleeve from the case to read
the barcode. The alternative is to enter each barcode by hand. This is
reasonable to do for a search, but some people will be unwilling to do
this for each CD they own.
Shiny book covers and plastic wrappers are not
a problem.

My
Groqit won't read barcodes into my computer
Your Groqit is a self-contained inventory system.
You take the Groqit to your collection, rather than dragging each item
over to your computer for entry. It reads data into its own files. These
files can be read by most personal computers, but the reading process
itself will not communicate with your computer.

Problems
My
Groqit shuts off when connected to my computer
Correct.
This is a security and data protection feature.
If your Groqit and your computer tried to work with the same data at the
same time, you could lose information. To prevent this, we shut the Groqit
off completely whenever it is connected to a computer. When connected, your Groqit looks like an ordinary flash drive.

The
Groqit won't read the barcode
Groqit reads the two main barcoding systems
used on merchandise. The first image above is a UPC, the second is an
EAN. The third is a barcode used by a retail store in its internal communications.
The Groqit can't read it. Though UPC and EAN are by far the major barcodes
in use on merchandise, there are dozens of other barcode fonts and coding
systems. The Groqit cannot read them.
I
formatted my Groqit and now it doesn't work
Formatting your Groqit may be reversible, but
it is not covered under Warranty. The Groqit must be mailed, with
payment, to our headquarters in Oregon and "resurrected." For details,
